Acne is a common skin disease that causes pimples. Pimples form when hair follicles under your skin clog up. Most pimples form on the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders. Anyone can get acne, but it is common in teenagers and young adults. It is not serious, but it can cause scars. No one knows exactly what causes acne. Hormone changes, such as those during the teenage years and pregnancy, probably play a role.

Effectiveness
Thirty-one Taiwanese with symmetrical facial acne were irradiated with blue light on one side of the face selected randomly twice weekly for 4 consecutive weeks. The other half of the face was left untreated as control. Parameters, including scar type, pore size, and facial follicular porphyrin fluorescence intensity, were documented. The severity of acne was assessed before the treatment, after two, four, and eight sessions of treatment, and 1 month after the treatment was completed. Compared with the non-irradiation side, eight sessions of blue light irradiation were effective in acne treatment (P<0.001). Gender (P=0.471), scar type (P-values of pitted, atrophic, and hypertrophic type were 0.688, 0.572, and 0.802, respectively), pore size (P=0.755), and pretreatment fluorescence intensity (P=0.656) could not be used as predictive factors of therapeutic effectiveness. Compared with pretreatment, nodulocystic lesions tended to worsen despite treatment. Blue light irradiation is effective in acne treatment.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia among older people. Dementia is a brain disorder that seriously affects a person's ability to carry out daily activities. Alzheimer's Disease begins slowly. It first involves the parts of the brain that control thought, memory and language. People with Alzheimer's Disease may have trouble remembering things that happened recently or names of people they know. A related problem, mild cognitive impairment (MCI),
THERAPY OVERVIEW
Alzheimer's disease pathophysiology is the accumulation of hyperphosphorylated tau protein neurofibrillary tangles and subsequently amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaques. PBM and neurobiofeedback (NBF)address the multiple gene expression and upregulation of multiple pathogenic pathway inflammation, reactive oxidative stress, mitochondrial disorders, insulin resistance, methylation defects, regulation of neuroprotective factors, and regional hypoperfusion of the brain. PBM-treated subjects showed that active treatment subjects tended to show greater improvement in the functioning of the executive: clock drawing, immediate recall, practical memory, and visual attention and task switching (Trails A&B). A larger study using the CerebroLite helmet in Temple Texas again of subjects in a double-blind, placebo-controlled IRB-approved FDA Clinical Trial demonstrated gain in memory and cognition by increased clock drawing.

Most forms of arthritis are thought to be caused by a fault in the immune system that causes the body to attack its own tissues in the joints. This may be inherited genetically. Other forms of arthritis can be caused by problems with the immune system or by a metabolic condition, such as gout. Most kinds of arthritis cause pain and swelling in your joints. Joints are places where two bones meet, such as your elbow or knee.

Depression is a serious medical illness. It's more than just a feeling of being sad or "blue" for a few days. If you are one of the more than 19 million teens and adults in the United States who have depression, the feelings do not go away. They persist and interfere with your everyday life. Symptoms can include, feeling sad or "empty", loss of interest in favorite activities, overeating, or not wanting to eat at all, not being able to sleep, or sleeping too much.
THERAPY OVERVIEW
Major depressive disorder is a common debilitating mood disorder that affects quality of life. Prefrontal cortex abnormalities, an imbalance in neurotransmitters, neuroinflammation, and mitochondrial dysfunction are the major factors in the etiology of major depressive disorder. Despite the efficacy of pharmacotherapy in the treatment of major depressive disorder, 30%–40% of patients do not respond to antidepressants. Given this, exploring the alternative therapies for treatment or prevention of major depressive disorder has aroused interest among scientists. Transcranial photobiomodulation therapy is the use of low-power lasers and light-emitting diodes in the far-red to near-infrared optical region for stimulation of neuronal activities. This non-invasive modality improves the metabolic capacity of neurons due to more oxygen consumption and ATP production. Beneficial effects of transcranial photobiomodulation therapy in the wide range of neurological and psychological disorders have been already shown.

The studies reviewed provide strong evidence for the mechanism of t-PBM (increasing mitochondrial energy production and increasing regional blood flow). The downstream effects of increased ATP production include not only increased cellular energy but also potentially increases in intercellular signaling. The human studies reviewed are supportive of a likely t-PBM effect on depression. Human studies have used a variety of t-PBM parameters and settings. For example, studies used different radiation power, different wavelengths, continuous vs pulsed light, acute vs chronic treatment, and irradiation of the entire cortex vs prefrontal area.

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common type of male sexual dysfunction. It is when a man has trouble getting or keeping an erection. ED becomes more common as you get older. But it's not a natural part of aging. Some people have trouble speaking with their doctors about sex. But if you have ED, you should tell your doctor. Erectile Dysfunction can be a sign of health problems. It may mean your blood vessels are clogged.
THERAPY OVERVIEW
ED treatment depends on the causes of your dysfunction. When the disorder results from any other factors, your doctor may suggest receiving PEMF stimulation, which is the best way to bring your sex life back on track. Besides, it has no side effects that may develop if you stick to a long-term medication course. PEMF therapy stimulates blood flow, thereby eliminating blocked fluids. It is worth trying to produce an erection and manage ED symptoms. Widely used for ED, it is gaining momentum among patients.

Fibromyalgia is chronic condition that causes pain all over the body, fatigue, and other symptoms. People with fibromyalgia may be more sensitive to pain than people who don't have it. This is called abnormal pain perception processing. The exact cause of fibromyalgia is unknown. Researchers think that certain things might contribute to its cause stressful or traumatic events, such as car accidents, repetitive injuries or illnesses such as viral infections.
THERAPY OVERVIEW
Low frequency pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) can provide noninvasive, safe and easy to apply method to treat fibromyalgia and PEMF has a long term record of safety. Low-energy pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy has been suggested as a promising therapy to increase microcirculation, which is of great concern in patients with fibromyalgia. This study evaluated the effectiveness of PEMF therapy on the treatment of fibromyalgia. A group of 108 women with fibromyalgia were allocated to a 12-week treatment period with an active Bio-Electro-Magnetic-Energy-Regulation (BEMER) device and a similar treatment period with an inactive device. Each patient received active and sham treatments in a random order. Pain and stiffness were assessed on a visual analog scale (VAS, scale 0–100 mm), and functional status was assessed by the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ).

Gout is a common, painful form of arthritis. It causes swollen, red, hot and stiff joints. Gout happens when uric acid builds up in your body. Uric acid comes from the breakdown of substances called purines. Purines are in your body's tissues and in foods, such as liver, dried beans and peas, and anchovies. Normally, uric acid dissolves in the blood. It passes through the kidneys and out of the body in urine.

High blood pressure usually has no symptoms. So the only way to find out if you have it is to get regular blood pressure checks from your health care provider. Blood pressure is the force of your blood pushing against the walls of your arteries. Each time your heart beats, it pumps blood into the arteries. Your blood pressure is highest when your heart beats, pumping the blood..
THERAPY OVERVIEW
Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy is a noninvasive technique, which provides low field electromagnetic stimulation. The therapy of PEMF is achieved by altering biological and physiological systems via low energy and non-ionizing electromagnetic fields. PEMF therapy was originally used clinically to manage osteoarthritis related pain and stiffness and to augment bone healing. In addition, recent research has explored the beneficial therapeutic effect of PEMF on microvasculature and circulation.
More recently, research interests have expanded their focus to additional mechanisms and syndromes, including a focus on the effects of PEMF on peripheral vascular function and blood flow. It has been suggested that PEMF therapy enhances the binding of free calcium (Ca2+) to calmodulin (CaM) and this phenomenon might alter tissue repair and/or pain. Moreover other studies suggested an effect of PEMF on Ca/CaM-dependent nitric oxide (NO) signaling pathways, which is one of the major components for controlling vascular tone and BP.

The PEMF demonstrated an increase in Nitric Oxide after therapy. For resting BP, there were no differences in systolic BP (SBP), diastolic BP (DBP) or mean arterial pressure (MAP) between groups. During exercise, PEMF had a reduction in peak SBP (p = .04), but not SHAM (p = .57). PEMF demonstrated significant relationships between baseline SBP and change in SBP following therapy and between MAP and change in MAP following therapy, but no such relationships were found in SHAM. Subjects with resting hypertension (SBP ≥140 mmHg) in PEMF (n = 11) had significant reductions in SBP, DBP and MAP when compared to SHAM with hypertension. In this sub-group analysis, PEMF demonstrated lowered peak SBP at a given exercise load but SHAM did not. PEMF may increase plasma NO availability and improve BP at rest and during exercise. However, this beneficial effect appears to be more pronounced in subjects with existing hypertension.
Menstruation, or period, is normal vaginal bleeding that happens as part of a woman's monthly cycle. Many women have painful periods, also called dysmenorrhea. The pain is most often menstrual cramps, which are a throbbing, cramping pain in your lower abdomen. You may also have other symptoms, such as lower back pain, nausea, diarrhea, and headaches. Period pain is not the same as premenstrual syndrome (PMS).
THERAPY OVERVIEW
To determine the efficacy of low level laser therapy versus pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) in the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea. A randomized clinical trial that included 52 girls diagnosed with primary dysmenorrhea and who were assigned randomly into two groups of equal numbers. The treatment was three sessions every cycle for three consecutive cycles where group (A) included those participants treated with LLLT 15 min/session and group (B) those who were treated with PEMF 30 min/session.
The results showed a significant decrease in the severity of pain, statistically significant decrease in prostaglandin level in blood, and a statistically significant pain alleviation in both groups. With comparison between both groups there was a statistically significant decrease in the severity of pain, significant decrease in the blood levels of PGF2α, in group (A) than group (B). LLLT and PEMF are effective in the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea.

EFFECTIVENESS
A study was recently done with a total of 40 women having primary dysmenorrhea were selected from Physical Therapy Department in Al Mataria Teaching Hospital in Cairo. Their ages ranged from 20 to 30 years. They were divided randomly into two groups equal in number: group A (study group), treated with the PEMF, three times/week for 3 months, with each session lasted for 30 min, in addition to medical treatment, and group B (control group, which received medical treatment only (NSAIDs). Menstrual distress questionnaire and visual analog scale were used for assessment of menstrual distress and pain before treatment and after treatment for both groups A and B. The results showed that there is a significant improvement in menstrual distress and pain scores in both groups A and B after treatment, in favor of group A. It was concluded that PEMF is effective in improving dysmenorrheic pain and menstrual distress score.

Almost everyone has had a headache. Headache is the most common form of pain. It's a major reason people miss days at work or school or visit the doctor. The most common type of headache is a tension headache. Tension headaches are due to tight muscles in your shoulders, neck, scalp and jaw. They are often related to stress, depression or anxiety. You are more likely to get tension headaches if you work too much, don't get enough sleep.
THERAPY OVERVIEW
Low frequency pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) can provide noninvasive, safe and easy to apply method to treat migraine headaches and PEMF has a long term record of safety. A randomized single-blinded parallel-placebo controlled study showed significant improvement of headache activity in the PEMF active group, while no changes of headache parameters were seen in the placebo group in the first phase.
The second and third part of the study showed that improvements in the active group persisted even after an 8 month follow-up period. The study also showed that menstrual dependency of headache diminished the effect of PEMF treatment.
HOW OFTEN
The migraine pain relief therapy is once per week for 90 minutes per session.

Nerves are like wires that carry messages back and forth between your brain and your body. Your peripheral nerves branch off from your brain and spinal cord and connect to all parts of your body, including your muscles and organs. Peripheral nerves carry messages from your brain that control your movement, breathing, heartbeat, digestion, and more. They also carry messages from your body to your brain, so you can feel things, such as pain, heat, and cold. If you have diabetes, your blood glucose, or blood sugar, levels are too high. Over time, this can damage the covering on your nerves or the blood vessels that bring oxygen to your nerves. Damaged nerves may stop sending messages, or may send messages slowly or at the wrong times. This damage is called diabetic neuropathy. Over half of people with diabetes get it. Symptoms may include numbness in your hands, legs, or feet, shooting pains, burning.
THERAPY OVERVIEW
Low frequency pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) can provide noninvasive, safe and easy to apply method to treat neuropathy and PEMF has a long term record of safety. The motor nerve conduction parameters showed significant improvement in group 1, 2 with better mean values in group 1. As demonstrated by Fagerberg's, DPN is a result of diabetic angiopathy and found the correlation between neuropathic symptoms and duration of diabetes and histological abnormalities of the vasa nervorum. The decrease in motor nerve conduction velocity can be explained as a result of abnormality in the vasa nervorum. The experimental groups showed improvement in distal latency, NCV after treatment which can be attributed to indirect effect of PEMF, that is it augments angiogenesis by stimulating endothelial release of fibroblast growth factor beta. Smith found that PEMF stimulate the arteriolar microvessel diameters in rat cremester muscle, which further support that it improves the microenvironment for the tissues leading to regeneration.

Obesity means having too much body fat. It is different from being overweight, which means weighing too much. The weight may come from muscle, bone, fat, and/or body water. Both terms mean that a person's weight is greater than what's considered healthy for his or her height. Obesity happens over time when you eat more calories than you use. The balance between calories-in and calories-out differs for each person. Factors that might affect your weight include your genetic makeup, overeating, eating high-fat foods, and not being physically active. Obesity increases your risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke, arthritis, and some cancers. If you have obesity, losing even 5 to 10% of your weight can delay or prevent some of these diseases. For example, that means losing 10 to 20 pounds if you weigh 200 pounds.
THERAPY OVERVIEW
A recent Harvard University study determined that approximately only 1% of obese Americans that attempt to lose weight will be successful in taking off the weight and keeping it off. At Recharge Canton we want to improve on these odds of success by helping our clients identify the problems and get to the root of why they over eat.
Obesity is an eating disorder similar to alcoholism or drug addiction, so by simply concentrating on the problem without identifying what causes the problem, or the trigger, will most likely result in failure.
Obesity has as much to do with, stress triggers, sleep problems, hydration, positive relationships, chronic fatigue, alcohol consumption as it does with food choices. The obesity therapy plan at Recharge Canton addresses all of the conditions the lead to obesity at the same time to help our clients finally get the results that they desperately want.

Osteoporosis is a bone disease that develops when bone mineral density and bone mass decreases, or when the quality or structure of bone changes. This can lead to a decrease in bone strength that can increase the risk of broken bones (fractures). Osteoporosis is a silent disease. You might not know you have it until you break a bone. A bone mineral density test is the best way to check your bone health.
THERAPY OVERVIEW
Osteoporosis (OP) is considered to be a well-defined disease which results in high morbidity and mortality. In patients diagnosed with OP, low bone mass and fragile bone strength have been demonstrated to significantly increase risk of fragility fractures. To date, various anabolic and antiresorptive therapies have been applied to maintain healthy bone mass and strength.
Pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMFs) are employed to treat patients suffering from delayed fracture healing and nonunions. Although PEMFs stimulate osteoblastogenesis, suppress osteoclastogenesis, and influence the activity of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and osteocytes, ultimately leading to retention of bone mass and strength.

Overactive bladder is a condition in which the bladder squeezes urine out at the wrong time. You may have overactive bladder if you have two or more of these symptoms: you urinate eight or more times a day or two or more times at night, you have the sudden, strong need to urinate immediately, you leak urine after a sudden, strong urge to urinate. You also may have incontinence, a loss of bladder control. Nerve problems, too much fluid, or too much caffeine.
THERAPY OVERVIEW
Almost one-fifth of the people in the world experience a decrease in quality of life due to overactive bladder (OAB) syndrome. The main bothersome symptoms are urgency accompanied by urinary frequency and nocturia. This chronic, disabling condition is first managed by reducing fluid intake and pelvic floor muscle training, supplemented with antimuscarinic drugs, if necessary. However, refractory cases often still occur.
In more severe cases, invasive surgical interventions can be considered; yet, the success rate is still inconsistent, and there is a high complication rate. This condition is frustrating for patients and challenging for the medical staff involved. Although its pathophysiology has not been fully elucidated, peripheral autonomic somatic and sensory afferent receptors are considered to be involved in this condition. Hence, currently, physical agent-based treatments such as neuromodulation have taken a significant place in the third-line therapy of OAB.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a type of movement disorder. It happens when nerve cells in the brain don't produce enough of a brain chemical called dopamine. Sometimes it is genetic, but most cases do not seem to run in families. Exposure to chemicals in the environment might play a role. symptoms begin gradually, often on one side of the body. Later they affect both sides. They include trembling of hands, arms, legs, jaw and face, stiffness of the arms, legs.
Therapy is NOT a cure but designed to improve our clients quality of life.
THERAPY OVERVIEW
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative condition, predominantly affecting older adults. Preference-based measures Photobiomodulation can be used to make decisions about the cost-utility of different treatments and quality of life benefits.
A previous study identified important health domains for individuals with PD and developed an item pool from existing measures of quality of life. Fifty-three participants completed a visual analogue scale (VAS) of self-perceived health, the prototype PBM measure, and an item importance rating. To reduce the item pool, the following were calculated: (1) inter-item correlations; (2) impact of each item based on item performance and importance rating; (3) directionality of response options by comparing the VAS scores against each item.
Results. Participants (male = 54.7%, age = 60.0 ± 10.2) had a median Hoehn and Yahr score of 2.5 (interquartile range = 1). Items supported for inclusion by this analysis were sleep, fatigue, tremor, mood, walking, memory, and dexterity. Items demonstrating a logical decrease in VAS score with each increasing severity level were sleep, memory, tremor, fatigue, and mood.

EFFECTIVENESS
Pulsed electromagnetic fields induce a protective and anti-inflammatory effect in the nervous system primarily due to growth factor upregulation that possibly abates neurodegeneration in Parkinson's disease (PD). Te study investigated treatment effects of transcranial pulsed electromagnetic fields (T-PEMFs) on quality of life in PD and the feasibility and safety of this treatment. A double-blinded clinical study, 97 participants with idiopathic PD, on optimal medical anti-parkinsonian treatment, were block randomized (3:3) to either active (n = 49) or placebo treatment (n = 48). Treatment with T-PEMFs entailed one daily 30-min home treatment for eight consecutive weeks. The active group improved with respect to clinical effect size for the two dimensions, i.e. mobility and activities of daily living, compared with the placebo group. Treatment with T-PEMFs improved mobility and activities of daily living scores for clinical effect size only in the active group, indicating a positive treatment response for motor symptoms.

Cancer is a disease in which cells in the body grow out of control. Prostate cancer begins in the cells of the prostate. The prostate is a gland in the male reproductive system. It lies just below the bladder. It makes fluid that is part of semen. Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer. It often grows very slowly. If it does not spread to other parts of the body, it may not cause serious problems. But sometimes prostate cancer can grow quickly.

The use of PEMF therapy in oncology is still limited. The first study utilizing PEMF therapy was conducted by Barbault and coworkers who hypothesized that a combination of specific frequencies, defined tumor-specific frequencies, may display therapeutic effectiveness for localized treatment of tumors. They identified a total of 1524 tumor-specific frequencies, ranging from 0.1 to 114 kHz, consisting in the measurement of variations in skin electrical resistance, pulse amplitude, and blood pressure in 163 patients affected by different types of cancer including brain tumors, colorectal cancer, HCC carcinoma, pancreatic, colorectal, ovarian, breast, prostate, lung, thyroid, and bladder cancer and exposed to the radiofrequency system. Self-administered PEMF therapy for 60 min, three times a day, for an average of 278.4 months was offered to only 28 patients with advanced cancer, ovarian cancer, pancreatic cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, glioblastoma multiforme, HCC carcinoma, mesothelioma, neuroendocrine tumor, non-small-cell lung cancer, oligodendroglioma, small-cell lung cancer, sarcoma and thyroid tumor. None of the patients who received PEMF therapy reported any side effects; four patients presented stable disease for 3 years (thyroid cancer with biopsy-proven lung metastases), 6 months (mesothelioma metastatic to the abdomen), 5 months (non-small-cell lung cancer), and 4 months (pancreatic cancer with biopsy-proven liver metastases), respectively.

Sciatica is a symptom of a problem with the sciatic nerve, the largest nerve in the body. It controls muscles in the back of your knee and lower leg and provides feeling to the back of your thigh, part of your lower leg, and the sole of your foot. When you have sciatica, you have pain, weakness, numbness, or tingling. It can start in the lower back and extend down your leg to your calf, foot, or even your toes. It's usually on only one side of your body.
THERAPY OVERVIEW
Low frequency pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) can provide noninvasive, safe and easy to apply method to treat sciatica pain, inflammation and dysfunctions associated with back pain, sciatica and neuropathy and PEMF has a long term record of safety. The analysis of various studies of pain, cell culture systems and clinical trials reporting the use of PEMF for pain cure has conclusively shown that PEMF not only alleviates the sciatica pain in the condition but it also affords chondroprotection, exerts anti-inflammatory action and helps in cell health and has been developed as a viable alternative for sciatica pain therapy.

Sleep is a complex biological process. While you are sleeping, you are unconscious, but your brain and body functions are still active. They are doing a number of important jobs that help you stay healthy and function at your best. So when you don't get enough quality sleep, it does more than just make you feel tired. It can affect your physical and mental health, thinking, and daily functioning.
THERAPY OVERVIEW
Over the last seventy years or so, many previous studies have shown that photobiomodulation, the use of red to near infrared light on body tissues, can improve central and peripheral neuronal function and survival in both health and in disease. These improvements are thought to arise principally from an impact of photobiomodulation on mitochondrial and non-mitochondrial mechanisms in a range of different cell types, including neurons.
This impact has downstream effects on many stimulatory and protective genes. An often-neglected feature of nearly all of these improvements is that they have been induced during the state of wakefulness. Recent studies have shown that when applied the state of sleep, photobiomodulation can also be of benefit, but in a different way, by improving the flow of cerebrospinal fluid and the clearance of toxic waste-products from the brain.

This study aimed to test whether Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy targeting the frontal cortex could improve sleep and cognitive function. Fifty-eight people were divided into the PBM group (N = 32) in which real light therapy was administered and a sham light therapy group (N = 26). All the participants received either real light or sham light therapy for 6 days consecutively, while the sleep data were recorded. The sleep efficiency and REM were improved within the true light group on the fifth day. The true light group perform better than the control group in the n-back test, the accuracy was higher in the 2-back test (88.6% versus 79.6%, p = 0.001), and the reaction time in 1-back was shorter (544.80±202.00 versus 592.87±222.05, p = 0.003). After five days of PBM therapy targeting the prefrontal cortex, sleep efficiency and N-back cognitive performance were improved on the fifth day.
